The US Corporation is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Japanese corporation by the same name and has been responsible for the marketing and distribution of its innovative products in the North American market since 1974. The US product line has grown from spa heaters to an extensive product line that today includes tankless water heaters, direct vent wall furnaces, fireplaces, hydronic air handlers, portable cooktops, and commercial grade rice cookers.

Rinnai was founded in 1920 by Hidejiro Naito and Kanekichi Hayashi, who started their business manufacturing and selling pressurized oil cooking stoves. By the early 1930s, the company entered into the gas appliance business, including cooking stoves, ranges, space heaters, and water heaters.
Rinnai relocated to a state-of-the-art Distribution, Research, and Training facility in Peachtree City, Georgia, in 2001 – and has since expanded with branch offices and training facilities in California, Texas, and Florida.
